Nordic Walking
It arrives in Italy in 2003 and in 2008 Fabio Moretti and Pino Dallasega founded the Italian School of Nordic Walking (SINW). Since ´30s cross-country skiing athletes had been the first to use walking poles during their summer training. In Italy, they started using them in the ´60s thanks to the Swedish Bent Nilson, coach of the national cross-country ski team. The technique of the modern Nordic Walking was later refined by the Finnish Marko Kataneva, who proposed it in his graduation thesis. He suggested outdoor activities in which walking and moving arms are combined by the use of poles with special grips. Fitness walking involves simultaneously a lot of muscles so that the pleasure of being outdoor alone or with friends becomes a healthy activity and a good chance to tone up and relaxes the muscles. In Cortina d'Ampezzo there are many places where we can practice this fitness activity. The beauty of the landscape is completed with a natural meditation that relaxes the mind.
